Ode to Childhood

Wonderful times of old i remember..
School days of careless freedom..
To memories today i surender..
Thoughts of the past i pick at random..

First crush and the jealousy it brought..
Fist fights on the sandy playground..
The trifles of things we once sought..
A chocolate, a picnic , a ride on the merry-go-round..

Untold promises of undying friendship..
Some kept , some in time forgotten buried..
No care of if we looked like a dork or were hip..
The tons of books to school we carried..

Video casettes in VCR’s late by a year..
Everybodys door led to a house of our own..
The excitement of a birthday near..
Not a single moment to spend alone..

Festivals without a care to religion celebrated..
Playing monopoly over samosa’s a rainy evening spent..
Of the sports days and the promise of no homework it held..
I wonder where those days into the ages went..

Missing , remembering and dreaming of those days i say..
Lets spend a moment in that unchallenged liberty..
Lets forget for once todays pain and tomorrow’s way..
Lets remember the puddles in which we once got dirty..
